Bonjour!

Hello, everyone! On this blog, I'm going to try to write entirely in French (besides this introductory post). This is probably the least time-consuming way to work French into my mind (I am actively trying to learn spoken Classical Latin, which takes up much more time and effort). There is no guarantee that I'll succeed and of course, I know that nothing is a substitute for speaking the actual language. However, being able to write and read French is good for a start.

My plan of action is to go through the lessons here. I have done the first ten (but my vocabulary is still rusty). After that, I'll probably look into a free French text on Google books or something of the like. I have Ollendorf's French book in PDF format (thank you Mr. Miller from the Latinum podcast for creating a French podcast as well, which led me to Ollendorf). After I have gained some fluency, I'll start on my second goal: learn Cajun French. I would like to try to preserve the endangered language by learning it from here.

My current French is limited to basic words but I do know some basic grammar. I can say "je suis", "j'ai été", "je vai être", and "je serai". So conjugation wise, I'm sort of okay...(thank heavens for Latin [I will have taken it for four years at the end of this school year, but I am learning it on the side, on my own as a spoken language with slow progress...]).

By the way, I have moderate linguistic knowledge. I know some IPA, linguistic topics such as verbal aspects, diphthongs, phonemes, morphemes, etc. mostly acquired through my curiosity in Latin (and other languages, especially constructed ones and the Romance languages) and of course most of it is from Wikipedia.
